d two cats from the Mon Dak Humane Society in August. I was told the cats got along and the bigger white one protected the black one. In reality, they are opposite personalities and hate each other. The black one is smaller and declawed, and the white one is bigger and has her claws. They spend all day fighting... planning attacks on each other... stalking one another... hiding and pouncing... it's exhausting. They both attack the other when one of them is in the litter box. I am often woken up in the middle of the night to their shrieks and howls. They HATE each other. I can't blame either of them. They are sweet, pleasant cats when they are on their own, such as when I close my bedroom door and allow one in at a time. But I am devastated watching their fighting, and cannot seem to find a new home for one of them. I am willing to part with either, but I am more attached to the black cat because she was an abused cat...I want to be keep her and protect her for life. The white cat was in the shelter because her elderly owner died; it is clear she has had a good life.

I'm really not sure how to go about this. I am married, but very unhappily. Actually, we have become nothing more than roommates over the last couple of years; we even reside in our own parts of the house.
